Toyota's Domestic Output Down 10.7% In Oct; Honda Down 35.8%TOKYO (NQN)--Toyota Motor Corp. (7203) said Friday its domestic output slid 10.7% on the year to 305,484 units in October, falling for the 15th straight month, while exports dropped 31% to 156,058 units, marking the 13th straight monthly decline.
Meanwhile, domestic sales grew 14.8% from the previous year to 137,700 units last month, increasing for the third straight month, while overseas output improved 12.8% to 404,420 units, making for the third consecutive month of growth.
Nissan Motor Co. (7201) said the same day it produced 99,121 cars in Japan in October, down 1% on the year. The figure fell for the 13th straight month. The automaker exported 56,717 vehicles in October, down 15.3% from the previous year and marking the 13th consecutive monthly fall.
Nissan's domestic sales expanded 6% on the year to 44,307 units, the first rise in two months, while its overseas production grew 16% to 207,025 units in October, the first increase in 15 months.
Honda Motor Co. (7267) also said on Friday it's domestic output contracted 35.8% from the previous year to 81,000 units in October, making for the 12th consecutive monthly drop. Exports tumbled 64.1% to 22,754 units, falling for the 13th straight month.
Honda's domestic sales climbed 16.6% on the year to 53,321 units last month, marking the fourth straight month of growth. Overseas output slid 9.1% from 2008 to 220,103 units in October, making for the 13th straight monthly decline.
