PLC Programmer /Automation & Controls Technician

Cargill is currently accepting applications for PLC Programmer at our beef processing facility in High River, Alberta. Located just 20 minutes south of Calgary, successful candidates will realize the benefits of working at Cargill.

Terms of Employment:
Permanent, Full Time, Overtime, Weekend, Day, Night, Evening. Shifts: 10 hrs and 12 hrs shifts.

Pay Rate:
$30.10 / hr (first 40 hrs per week), over time @ 150% of the regular rate (past 40 hrs per week)

Credentials:
One or more of the following: Certified Electrician, Instrument Technician, Rockwell Certified Field Engineer, PLC Programming Certificate or Diploma, degree or technical diploma in Automation or Robotics or Mechatronics.

Experience:
Electrical and / or Instrumentation troubleshooting. Management, design, execution, and commissioning of PLC / Automation projects.

Major Work Area:
Programming, monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing complex automated manufacturing systems composed of AB / Rockwell PLC Controls, Plant PCs, SCADA systems, industrial networks, and instrument devices

Area of Specialization:
Scope, design, document, commission, program, install, examine, replace or repair controllers, field devices, electrical components, computers, and remotely connected automation systems

Type of Equipment:
AB / Rockwell PLCs, conveyors, automated equipment, instrument devices, VFDs, power supplies, Plant PCs / SCADA systems, RSLinx, RSLogix, controllers, transmitters, transducers, valves, positioners, Device Net components

Specific Skills:
Ability to conceptualize automated processes from a system level and then apply troubleshooting paradigms to that system. Analytical approach to root-cause analysis.

Additional Skills:
Read blueprints, prepare reports for nontechnical audiences, sketch industrial network topology

Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a must
The ability to work well under pressure. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Aptitude in mathematics and measurement. Computer, electrical, electronic, mechanical, and process control skills. Manual dexterity and attention to detail.

Additional Requirements:
Must be willing and committed to completion of Alberta Electrical and / or Instrumentation Apprenticeship Program
